Higinbotham, John David - When the West Was Young: Historical Reminiscences of the Early Canadian West

Lethbridge, AB, The Herald Printers, 1978. Second printing. Hardcover. pp. x, 328. Small 8vo. Bound in tan cloth with gilt lettering to spine and front board. Black and white photographic plates. Very good (no dustjacket). Higinbotham (1864-1961) was, according to Peel's Bibliography of the Prairie Provinces, a pioneer druggist who began business in MacLeod, Alberta, in 1884. He moved to Lethbridge the following year and was that city's postmaster from 1886 to 1910. This is a reprint edition of this book (which was first published in 1933) and recounts the author's experiences in the MacLeod-Lethbridge district. It contains a new Preface to the Second Edition and an 'Introduction to the re-production' by Norman Lindsay Higinbotham. .
